Back in June, Brooke Ellington gave birth to a baby girl named Berkley in a water birth at her home in Midland, Texas. Brooke and her family never wanted to forget this powerful moment, so they hired a photographer to come in and snap photos of the birth. Brooke knew that her husband Steven and their two sons, Boone and Boyd, would be in the photos. However, when she looked at the final images, she realized that someone very unexpected had crashed them!

The touching photos show that the family’s 1½-year-old corgi Ranger refused to leave Brooke’s side during the birth!

Ranger has been devoted to the family ever since they adopted him, and as soon as Brooke got pregnant, he took notice and seemed to be very excited about the upcoming birth.

Ranger ended up being in every photo from the day Brooke gave birth, as he refused to leave her side! He kept a careful watch over Brooke the entire time to make sure things were running smoothly.

“He was such a calming presence for me because he would just stop by checking in and put his wet nose against my face,” Brooke said. “I would instantly relax when he sat by me, and I even remember talking to him in between contractions. I thought he would hide under the bed the whole time, but his loyalty to all of us during this process really shined.”

Ranger rushed to Brooke’s side as soon as it came time for her to push, and he never left her until Berkley was born safely.

“Even though Ranger was extra attentive during my pregnancy with Berkeley, it still came as a surprise to see how close he was to me during my labor,” Brooke said.

Ranger was so excited when Berkley was born that he jumped into the pool to welcome her to the world!

“He was so curious and excited, he was sweet and was never in anyone’s way,” Brooke said. “It seemed like he knew Berkley was a new little baby and needed her space.”

Months later, Berkley and Ranger are the best of friends!

Berkley is one lucky little girl to have such a devoted dog watching over the family!
