A police officer was on patrol in a small town when he saw a man speeding down Main Street. Without hesitating, the cop went after the man and pulled him over.

“But officer,” the man stammered, “I can explain!”

“Just be quiet,” the fed up police officer fired back. “I’m going to let you cool your heels in a jail cell until the sheriff gets back.”

“But officer, I just wanted to say…” the man began.

“And I said to be quiet!” the officer yelled. “You are going to jail!”

A few hours later, the cop walked over to the man’s cell to check on him and said, “Lucky for you that the sheriff is at his daughter’s wedding. He’ll be in a good mood when he gets back.”

“Don’t count on it,” the man answered the police officer. “I’m the groom!”
