Having an appliance break down is just part of owning your own home, so when Laura’s dishwasher broke down, it wasn’t much of a surprise. She simply made a quick call to a repairman. Knowing that as a repairman he needed to follow her directions exactly, when he arrived at Laura’s house, the repairman read the note that told him what to expect inside.

Laura was at work, but her note explained that if he repaired her dishwasher and left her a bill, she would mail him a check. She also gave him a quick warning about her pets. She explained that she had a mean-looking, big bulldog named Bob, but not to worry because the dog wouldn’t bother him. However, she told the repairman not to talk to the bird no matter what. She was so adamant about this, that she repeated it twice.

As the note said, the repairman went to work on the dishwasher, and Bob the bulldog laid on the rug and watched. He never once bothered the man as he worked. However, the parrot repeatedly cursed, called the repairman names, and yelled throughout the job. Finally, at his wits end, the repairman turned to the bird and told him to shut up.

That’s when the parrot looked straight at the bulldog and replied, “Get him Bob.”

I’ll bet you weren’t expecting that ending! I guess we know why Laura twice warned him not to talk to the bird.
