A pizza delivery driver from Birmingham, Alabama just got the surprise of his life when he went to a local church to deliver a pizza. He ended up walking away with a whole lot more than his normal tip of just a few dollars.

The deliveryman, who did not want to give his name, walked into CrossBridge Church of Christ to deliver some pizza, and he was stunned by what happened next.

“We had this notion that we’ll just collect some funds and have a guy deliver some pizza, and we just wanna bless him with whatever the Lord gave,” explained Senior Minister Garry Brantley. “What we wanted to do is be active, to kind of find someone we bless today.”

That’s why the congregation presented him with $900 that they had pooled together!

The idea originally came from Charlie Vifquain, an associate minister for the church, who had been thinking critically about the phrase “Give us this day our daily bread.”

“I had an idea to take up a collection at the beginning of the sermon to bless a total stranger,” Charlie said. “I feel like pizza delivery people actually bring people daily bread.”

Camron Donahoo, the manager at the Domino’s where the deliveryman works, was just as stunned as everyone else by the enormous tip.

“[We haven’t seen anything] like that,” Camron said. “I mean there’s good tips but nothing like that where there’s life-changing money. The driver is working a couple of jobs and he’s got a family, and he’s just trying to provide.”

Camron and the pastor both agree that this money will do wonders to change the life of the deliveryman, as will the act of kindness itself.

“I think it just says that we are all capable of doing something that can change somebody’s world,” said Camron.
