Whoever said that dogs and cats don’t get along has never met Leo. He is a furry Jack Russell Terrier mix, and to some he is just a dog. To others, he is a true hero.

You see, Leo lived in a house with his human mom, brother, two sisters, and another dog brother. Also part of the family were four tiny newborn kittens.

One night the family was all sleeping when their home caught on fire. Everyone managed to escape, but Leo chose to stay behind. He had something very important to take care of.

When firefighters made it into the house to rescue Leo, they discovered that he was already unconscious due to smoke inhalation. But the tiny creatures he was protecting from the fire lay safe and secure underneath him.

Leo had found the baby kittens and covered their little bodies to keep them from inhaling the smoke. All the kittens and Leo were taken outside to safety and Leo received oxygen from the rescue workers.

Luckily, Leo got a clean bill of health and is now back with his family and healthy as can be. As for the kittens, they’re all just fine too. Check out the video below to learn more about the story and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
