Police officers Jeremy Halek and Tony Week were out working their normal shift on patrol in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota when they came upon an unusual scene.

The two cops were surprised when they saw a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road, with a teenager making pumping motions with his arm on the curb. In the body camera footage from that day, one of the officers can be heard yelling, “Is he giving CPR? I think (he is), look at him!”

Chris Felix, 19, had been out driving when a squirrel suddenly ran in front of him, and things happened so fast that the teenager did not have time to avoid him. Chris has such a big heart that after he hit the animal, he pulled over and did whatever he could to save him. Using the skills that he had learned from a CPR course he’d taken in high school, Chris started performing chest compressions on the injured squirrel.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s a little life or a big life, a life is a life,” Chris later explained.

At first, it seemed that Chris’s efforts were in vain, as the squirrel was unresponsive. Suddenly, however, the squirrel jumped up and ran away, showing that Chris really had saved his life! The officers and Chris all screamed in delight!

“There he goes!” Officer Halek exclaimed. “You saved his life, dude!”

Video of this has quickly gone viral, with people all over the world being touched by what Chris did! Check out the body camera footage for yourself below!
