Earlier this month, the Edmonton Humane Society received three Saint Bernard dogs named Goliath, Gunther, and Gasket.

The five year-old dogs are brothers, and the workers at the shelter were stunned when they realized just how close the brothers were. They were so close that whenever they were separated, they would start to nervously pant, making it clear just how anxious they were without their brothers.

The workers at the shelter quickly concluded that no matter what, the brothers would have to be adopted together.

“These three gentle giants have won over the hearts of staff and volunteers – even with the excessive drool,” said Jamey Blair, Manager of Animal Health & Protection at EHS. “While their status as bonded pets creates a unique challenge to find a home that can care for all 350 pounds of them, we are confident that there is a family out there who will give these three dogs their second chance.”

Since the dogs weigh a combined 350 pound and eat $300 worth of food, workers at the shelter knew that finding someone to adopt all three of them would be a challenge. Thankfully, the dogs’ story went viral as soon as it was publicized, and hundreds of people applied to adopt them!

Families from as far away as Australia applied to adopt the dogs! Finally, the shelter decided to have a family in the Canadian city of Calgary to make the transition as easy as possible on the dogs.

“We are beyond excited to be giving these three dogs their forever home,” the family who adopted them said in a statement. “When we found out that we were getting the opportunity to meet them, we cried tears of joy.”

The three dogs have settled into their new home wonderfully, and they could not be happier! We’re so glad that they will now get to spend the rest of their lives together in the loving forever home that they deserve!
