Earlier this month, Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in a gorgeous ceremony at Windsor Castle. Now, Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson is speaking out to reveal that Queen Elizabeth played a huge role in planning her beloved granddaughter’s wedding.

“I cannot be more grateful to Eugenie’s grandmother for making this day so memorable,” Sarah said. ‘I am so grateful for all the hard work and kindness behind the scenes to make such a special day for our daughter.”

Sarah also talked about how proud she is of her daughter for wearing a dress with a low back that showed off a scar she was left with after getting surgery as a child to correct scoliosis.

“I was so proud of Eugenie standing tall and showing her scar. She is an inspiration to young women everywhere,” she said.

Though Ferguson has had issues with some members of the royal family since she divorced Prince Andrew in 1996, she said that she has always remained close to the Queen.

“The queen and I always got on well, still do,” she said. “I uphold everything Her Majesty represents, has given up her life for. For her country, she’s selfless to the grave.”

Just before the wedding, Andrew indicated that his mother the Queen actively wanted his daughter to get married at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

“It doesn’t make any difference who you are, all the approvals go through the Queen anyway,” he said. “The Queen very firmly said St George’s is where you’re having the wedding so I said aye aye mam, turn to the right, salute and carry on.”
