Dogs and cats are stereotypically thought to be enemies who can never seem to get along. However, a new video is going viral that shows that this really is a myth!
Meet Gomez and Morticia, who are a chihuahua mix and a black kitten, respectively. Earlier this week, a man was out for a walk in Hampton, Virginia when he came upon the two huddled together in a park. It was immediately clear that the two were incredibly close and that Gomez was watching out for Morticia. In fact, he was so protective of her that he growled at anyone who got close to them.
“Totally bonded,” the man wrote on social media. “Dog is growling if we get too close so we have notified animal control and are waiting for them.”

The man called the local animal shelter to come and get Gomez and Morticia. Though they were safe for the moment in the shelter, but nobody stepped up to adopt them. On top of that, the shelter had to separate the two, even though they were best friends, because of safety restrictions. This left both Gomez and Morticia miserable, as they missed each other very much. The shelter also had no way of guaranteeing that the pair would be adopted together.
Thankfully, Savers of Souls Pet Rescue stepped up to rescue the dog and kitten after Turkan Ertugrul, the director of the facility, saw a photo of them online.
“They looked so scared in the picture it made us take notice,” Turkan said. “We tend to favor the scared ones because they just don’t understand when you are trying to help.”
They made room for Gomez and Morticia at their facility, keeping them together so that they could play with each other as much as they want! Workers at the facility are now trying to find someone who will adopt Gomez and Morticia together.

We can only hope that someone steps up to adopt these forever friends!
