The northern part of Florida was just left devastated by Hurricane Michael, which left countless residents trapped. It’s just been revealed that one Florida family was miraculously rescued after a relative of theirs miraculously spotted their “HELP” message that they had written using downed trees.

Amber Gee is a mother of two who evacuated her home in Calloway, which is near Panama City, last Thursday, right after the Category 4 hurricane hit land. Two days later, she wanted to check on her grandmother’s home in Youngstown, so she looked at the NOAA’s interactive satellite maps of the area.

As she zoomed in on her grandmother’s property, she spotted the word “HELP” written clearly in the grass.

She later explained that her uncle, Ernest Gee, had used fallen trees to write the message.

“I was checking on damages in the area on houses that belong to my family and I came across my grandma’s house… and they had the word HELP written out in the yard,” Amber said.

Amber had thought that all of her relatives had evacuated before the storm hit. While her 80 year-old grandmother had indeed evacuated, her uncle, aunt, and a family friend were left trapped during the hurricane.

Amber immediately called the police, and rescue workers were able to save her relatives at 2am on Sunday.

“Apparently, they had to cut through a lot of downed trees to get there,” Amber said. “The hurricane has turned everything upside down everywhere.”

We’re so glad that this story had a happy ending! Please keep all those affected by Hurricane Michael in your thoughts and prayers, and find out more about the Gee family’s story in the video below!
