A retired English teacher just got a huge surprise when a former student who never forgot him saved his life in a beautiful way.
George Labecki, 63, had been on the transplant list for a year after his kidneys started to fail, and he had started to give up hope that he would ever find a donor. That’s when Lindsay Arnold Wenrich, 34, surprised him earlier this month by revealing that she planned to donate a kidney to him after learning that she was a perfect match!
A heartwarming video has gone viral showing the moment that Lindsey, while dressed as the Penn State Nittany Lions mascot, revealed to George that she would be donating to him! George has always been a huge Penn State fan.

“I was stunned,” George said. “I was overpowered about the absolutely grand size of what she was about to do for me. I was speechless, absolutely speechless.”
George has had kidney problems since he was a kid, but it was only last year that they started to fail. After being diagnosed with stage IV kidney disease, he was put on the transplant list, where he could have found himself waiting for five years.
Six months ago, George’s wife urged him to search for a donor on social media, and his post went viral. Though Lindsey had never had George as a teacher herself, she remembered him as a popular educator at her school.
“I thought, ‘Wow, this is hitting kind of close to home,'” she said. “It’s not super often that I see someone I know who needs an organ donor and even though I never had him, Cedar Cliff is a close-knit community.”
George taught at Cedar Cliff for 34 years before he retired, and he was beloved by his students.

The surgery is currently scheduled for October 26. Both Lindsey and George said that they will now be bonded for life!
“I think I’m prepared and knowledgeable and know what to expect,” Lindsey said. “Luckily my work and my family has been really supportive. George and I became instant friends. I think we are going to be a really big part of each other’s lives.”
“She’s an amazing person, I love her to death,” he said, “I’ve been so thrilled to get to know her.”
