When cheerleader Ashley Adamietz went to cheer at a normal Friday night football game last month, she had no idea that by the end of it, she would be left “shocked, overwhelmed, and speechless.”

Ashley’s life was turned upside down back in August, when she was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Since then, she has had to undergo chemotherapy treatments.

Senior football player Ryan Caetano wanted to show Ashley just how much her classmates love her, so he got the rest of the football team to help him do something in support of her. During this game, all 57 players on the Foothill High School football team laid an orange rose at Ashley’s feet. They chose the color orange because it is the color of leukemia awareness.

“She’s part of the Cougar family,” Ryan said, “so why not let her know that we’re all here for her. We are. So I wanted to let that be known to everybody, and especially to her, for what she’s going through.”

Video of the players’ kind act has gone viral and touched people all over the world. Though Ashley has refused all interview requests, she said through the team’s football coach Joey Brown that she appreciates the support.

“We took care of family business before we took care of business on the field,” Joey said.

“RYAN CAETANO and the rest of your squad,” one social media user wrote. “You young men embody all that is great about America. Others may have forgotten what this country is about, but it is clear that you remember. I am proud to say that I salute you. HOOAH!!! GO FOOTHILL!! ASHLEY, God has shown you that you are not alone in this. I pray for you to draw strength from this and never give up. THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD!”
