Red wine, coffee, cheese, and chocolate are typically not thought of as healthy for the body. However, new research has just found that they can actually help you live longer!
A new study published by the Journal of Internal Medicine found that consuming these foods and drinks can actually decrease your chances of dying young. After looking at data from over 68,000 Swedish men and women, ages 45 to 83, researchers concluded that people who followed a diet consisting of anti-inflammatory foods had a lower risk of dying prematurely.
Red wine, chocolate, low-fat cheese, and coffee are all foods and drinks that are anti-inflammatory!
Inflammation is known to cause cancer, dementia, and cardiovascular diseases, and other health issues. Those who adhere to this anti-inflammatory diet have a 20% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular problems and a 13% lower risk of dying from cancer.
“Even partial adherence to the anti-inflammatory diet may provide a health benefit,” said Joanna Kaluza, who authored the study.
It should be noted that the study found that consuming these foods and drinks in moderation would benefit your health, so don’t go overboard with them! Other foods that are also anti-inflammatory are vegetables, fruits, cereals, whole-grain bread, olive oil and canola oil, nuts, and tea.
There’s nothing wrong with living a little and indulging in chocolate and wine every once in awhile especially now that findings show it’s beneficial to your health! Find out more about anti-inflammatory foods in the video below!
