A Good Samaritan is being hailed as a hero after he saved a woman from a burning car in Florissant, Missouri.

Aaron Jacobs heard the car crash from his house, and he immediately ran outside to see what he could do to help. When he got outside, he noticed that an elderly woman was trapped in a car that was on fire. Jacobs risked his life to dive into the burning car and pull the woman to safety before rescue workers arrived on the scene.

Jacobs said that he did not even think twice before he put his life on the line to save this woman.

“I helped her get her legs out from under the dashboard and swung them out of the car and put my arms under her and dragged her to the hill,” he said.

The local fire department said that if Jacobs had not been there to help, the woman likely would not have made it out alive. A veteran of the Army, Jacobs is crediting his military training with helping him to act quickly and calmly. After the rescue, Jacobs headed to the local hospital where the woman was recovering to make sure that she was alright.

This just goes to show how brave and selfless United States military veterans are. Unfortunately, they often do not get the respect that they deserve in this country despite all the sacrifices that they make for the rest of us each day.
