Members of the Waxahachie Fire Department in Waxahachie, Texas often jokingly tell each other “don’t drink the water.” It turns out they have a very good reason not to, because these firefighters have welcomed 15 babies with their respective partners within the space of one year!
This means that an astounding one fourth of the department are new fathers!
“Definitely not planned,” said Allison Duwe, who is married to one of the firefighters. “It just happened.”
The babies include eight girls and seven boys, and one set of twins!
Back in August, the firefighters came together to pose with their babies. Two of the little ones were not present, so there are only 13 babies in the photo.
Becoming new dads together has brought these firefighters even closer together.
“It does play well into family life,” said firefighter Jay Wilemon. “We all pretty much share the same problems, concerns, joys on the home front and then we come to work and get to share that with our second family.”
Marcus Brown said that it’s “inevitable” that their children will be friends given they are so close in age.
The firefighters and their families have some funny ideas about things they can do together in the future.
“[A] baby calendar with our daddies has been brought up,” said Tonya Wilemon, one of the new moms. “So that’s possibly in our future.”
This is such an adorably unique bonding opportunity for these firefighters who already have so much in common due to their line of work! Find out more about this in the video below!
