Michael Lee is a teacher in Spokane, Washington, and he has started a new tradition in his classroom. He has started making them lock up their cell phones at the beginning of class.

Lee says he bought the phone locker so that kids would engage in their work more. He said he had noticed that before they were getting work done quicker, but not because they were focused on the work.

Instead, they were working quickly to get back to using their phone and spending time on social media. He was determined to make a change for the better.

So Lee began researching ways to store cell phones and ended up purchasing a phone cubby from Amazon. Each student was assigned a cubby number and the students are required to place their phone inside their cubby at the beginning of class. They can even charge their phone while it’s in the cubby.

It wasn’t long before Lee noticed some pretty incredible results. Now other teachers are feeling inspired and following suit. Lee says he even has the support of parents. Check out the video below of his incredible plan and share it with your family and friends. I think he’s on to something good!
