All adoption stories are heartwarming, but this one might just be one of the best. Amanda and JoBen Barkey of California are active members of their community and have four beautiful children.
But in the summer of 2018, they hosted a young boy from Colombia for a month and realized their family wasn’t as complete as they thought it was. Sebastian is 11-years-old and has no family of his own.
He was brought to the U.S. through a program called Kidsave which brings adoptable children to the U.S. in hopes of finding them a family. JoBen is originally from Peru so he liked the idea of helping a South American child.

During the month that Sebastian stayed with the Barkey family, they gave him a taste of what living in the U.S. would be like by going on plenty of adventures. Sebastian fit into their family easily and the four Barkey kids were smitten with him.
When it came time for him to go home, they were all incredibly sad to have to say goodbye. Little did the children know, Amanda and JoBen had already made a huge decision that would impact them all.

In the video below, Amanda and JoBen sit their kids down and talk to them about adding Sebastian to their family. The kids were 100 percent on board.
The next step was to ask Sebastian if he would like to be a part of their family. So they made signs in Spanish that spelled out the words for brother, sister, mama, and papa.

When he realized what was happening and they asked him to be a part of their family, Sebastian quickly says yes as his face crumples in an expression of sheer joy.
Check out the amazing video below and be sure to share it with your family and friends, but you better grab a tissue first.
