Josh Eccles is an experienced diver, so when he was enjoying a dive in the Atlantic Ocean one afternoon, he was shocked at what he saw just a few feet from him. While he’s had encounters with a variety of sea creatures, this was something entirely different.

Hovering dangerously close to him was a large lemon shark. The shark began aggressively bumping into him as if it was trying to tell him something. Josh could tell that something was very wrong.

That’s when he noticed something on the underside of the shark’s belly. Hanging out of its belly was a huge hook. Josh immediately knew he needed to help, but sharks can be unpredictable.

Lemon sharks are stocky and powerful and can grow up to 11 feet long. As a general rule, they are not regularly a threat to humans, but they’re still sharks.
