What started out as a mean-spirited social media video has become a blessing for a one homeless man. Anthony Torres, age 56, has been homeless and hungry because he’s been unable to work due to several injuries and medical conditions.
Over the last few weeks he’s been mugged twice and robbed. Finally, desperate for help, he called his brother who sent him money to buy a train ticket so Anthony could go stay with another brother in New Jersey.
Anthony wanted to look nice and presentable for his brother and family, so he decided to clean himself up. While riding on the NJ Transit train he pulled out a razor, lathered up with shaving cream, and began shaving.

A fellow passenger, Pete Bentivegna started filming Anthony shaving and posted the video to social media. Anthony replied by asking people not to judge him for being down on his luck.
Days later, the internet tide had turned. A man named Jordan Uhl made a GoFundMe page to help Anthony get back up on his feet. Social media users offered letters of encouragement and apologies to Anthony and made a whopping $41,000 in donations in just a week.

Anthony has also received dozens of job offers, and although he is unable to accept them because of his disabilities, he is grateful for the kindness. He also feels that he’s finally gotten his dignity back.
Anthony’s brother explained that Anthony has gone through hell his entire life and this has been an eye-opener to help him see that so many people do care about him.

Anthony is safe and sound staying with his family now, but plans to use the money to buy himself a mobile home so he can have shelter wherever he goes. “I feel so happy,” he said. “I feel like a new man.”
Be sure to share this heartwarming story with your family and friends. Everyone deserves the kindness that Anthony was finally shown.
