A woman was recently walking through a parking lot in Beverly Hills, California when she came upon $1,500 in cash on the ground. Instead of pocketing it like most people would, the woman decided to do the right thing, and it led to her making a new friend!

Lauren Gregory and Pastor Maurice Hardwick of Believers Outreach Ministries may seem like they’ve been friends forever, but they actually just met last week.

“It might be like a situation where we should have met. It was very meant to be, I feel like,” Gregory said.

Gregory was walking out of a Kroger store when she found the money.

“As I’m getting out of the car I see money on the ground in the car in front of me, like it had fallen out,” she said. “I just knew that it was a large sum of money.”

Gregory knew right away that whoever owned the money needed it, so she contacted the owner of Kroger.

“I tried to page the person a couple times. No one came,” she said.

When she couldn’t find the owner, she left a note on the person’s car. Pastor Hardwick later found the note, but he was rushing to get to a birthday dinner for his mother.

“Get to the dinner, find out all my money is gone. I’m looking, I’m tearing my car up, my wife’s car,” he said. “I said, ‘wait a minute. God show me this, show me this, and he said the note.'”

The pastor had taken that large sum of money out to buy his mother a birthday gift and pay for his car repairs. Hardwick was able to call Gregory and get his money back.

With all the negativity in the news today, it’s nice to see someone do the right thing!
