Last week, magician Shin Lim was named as the winner of the 2018 season of “America’s Got Talent” after he impressed the entire nation with his amazing magic tricks!

Shin, 26, was born in Canada and currently lives in Acton, Massachusetts. Making his skills all the more impressive is the fact that he is completely self-taught!

“When you told me at 16 that an awkward, shy kid would one day be performing at the Dolby Theatre performing on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ I wouldn’t have believed them. To compete on AGT, it means the world to me,” Shin said after his win.

The judges were dazzled by Shin throughout the competition, with even the notoriously difficult to please Simon Cowell calling him “the best close-up magician they have ever seen.”

“You’re the only one that makes me believe that magic is possible,” judge Heidi Klum said.

Shin grew up playing piano, only starting to get into magic at the age of 16. At 20, he was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, which forced him to choose between music and magic. Shin chose magic and decided to drop out of the School of Music at Lee University in Tennessee.

Shin learned most of his magic from watching YouTube videos, and he got his big break when he appeared twice on Penn Jillette and Teller’s magic competition show, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, in 2015 and 2017. Since then, he has performed in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, and Taiwan.

We can’t wait to see where Shin’s career takes him next! Check out his amazing magic trick performance below!
