For one wakeboarder skimming across the top of the water in the Sea of Cortez, this day would be much different than other wakeboarding experiences she’s had in the past.

The once in a lifetime occurrence happened just off the coast of Mexico. The brave wakeboarder was shocked, but thrilled, when she realized she was surrounded by dolphins.

The curious dolphins one by one joined her and came closer and closer to her. Dolphins are extremely intelligent and naturally friendly which means they could tell it was a human skimming across the surface of the water.

Not all sea creatures are this friendly, and sharks often snap at swimmers because they mistake them for seals. The Sea of Cortez is home to over 100 species of sharks.

Luckily for this wakeboarder, she found herself in the company of friendly sea creatures and taking in a moment that she won’t soon forget. Check out the video of the incident below and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
