Though humans are much bigger than spiders, many people are terrified of these tiny eight-legged creatures. If you aren’t afraid of spiders now, you might be after you hear what happened to this man!
It all started when a 60 year-old man began feeling discomfort in his ear, as he constantly heard what sounded like a beating drum.

“I felt discomfort in my ear while sleeping last night but I tried to ignore it,” he said. “This morning the discomfort was still there. There were noises like something was beating a drum.”

The man started to think that an insect was in his ear, so he went to an outpatient clinic. There, he was examined by ear, nose, and throat specialist Dr.Cui Shulin of the Dalian Center Hospital. Even the seasoned doctor was stunned when he saw what was inside his ear.

Inside the man’s ear was a live bean-sized spider that had started to spin elaborate webs about two inches deep inside the ear canal to protect itself.

“This old man showed up at our outpatient clinic today saying he thought there was insect in his ear. I performed an endoscopy and found a spider. The thing had spun webs,” the doctor wrote.
Thankfully, the doctor was able to flush the spider out by spraying the patient’s ear canal with water. The man was left with no injuries afterwards.

Shiulin said he has rarely seen spiders living inside people’s ears, explaining that it’s more common to find flying inspects like ladybirds or cockroaches in people’s ears.
