Getting lost at sea would be a nightmare that no one would ever forget. But imagine being lost at sea with just you and your son without a boat. That’s exactly what happened on a cold February day to a man and his 13-year-old son named Joe.

Just a half mile from Ynys Dulas, lifeguards received a call saying that two kayaks had went missing. The rescuers knew with oceans temperatures freezing, the two had a low chance of survival if they didn’t hurry.

Joe and his father had been caught in harsh ocean waves. The water had pushed them far away from land. Their kayaks had overturned leaving them alone in the sea.

Joe’s father was terrified when his son told him, “I think we are gonna die.” Joe’s dad says he was pretty sure they were going to die too. That’s when he gave him a kiss and the two began trying to swim back to land.

That’s all Joe’s dad remembers. Then his arms started to fail and he began feeling warm and peaceful. He simply went to sleep. But when he woke up, he wasn’t in the ocean.

Lifeguards were told that two people had been spotted on the rocks of Dulas Island. Somehow, the father and son had made it to the island. When Joe’s dad asked how they got there, he couldn’t believe the answer.

Joe had dragged his father onto his back and carried his father. At just 13-years-old, he had rescued his unconscious father and given him CPR when they made it to the island.

Check out the amazing story of the rescue in the video below and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
