Member of the United States military make the ultimate sacrifice for their country by putting their lives on the line to protect the rest of our freedoms. Their family members make a huge sacrifice as well, as they are separated for their loved one for long periods of time, oftentimes having no idea how they are doing. That’s why military families take every opportunity that they can to see their loved ones!
Heather Almond knows all too well what this is like, as her son Gavin recently enlisted in the US Army and is going through basic training right now. When she learned that he was going to have some time off, Heather rushed to Fort Benning in Georgia to see him.

Once she got their, Heather took Gavin out to lunch at a sushi restaurant, and then something happened that she was never expecting!
“This weekend I went to visit my son at Fort Benning with my daughter and mother. He is at basic training and it was a family weekend,” she said. “He loves sushi, so we found a Japanese restaurant.”

“We probably ordered $100 worth of food and when we went to pay, the waitress said that the people at the other table had picked up our bill and they said to thank your son for his service,” Heather continued. “They were gone before I found this out, but I happened to snap a picture of my son that had one of the people in the background. I don’t know who she is, but I can tell you that it meant the world to us. We will find a way to pay it forward.”
Gavin and his family will never forget this kind act, and he was able to return to basic training with a huge smile on his face!

God bless all servicemen and women in the U.S. military!
