Kiko the giraffe was just one week old when he was found wandering alone in the Meru National Park in Kenya. People traveling through the park spotted the baby and knew he needed immediate aid if he was going to survive.
They contacted the Meru Mobile Veterinary Unit and a rescue team from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) went to pick up the baby and take him to the Nairobi Nursery.
Staff at the Nairobi Nursery immediately began feeding the baby giraffe and gave him the care he needed to survive. But because Kiko was too small to sleep in the giraffe stockade which houses much larger giraffes, they kept him in the elephant stockade.

While there, Kiko made friends with two elephant calves named Weiwei and Loboito. They were also orphaned and love hiding under Kiko’s belly and resting their trunks on his neck.
Loboito is just three weeks old and has become so attached to Kiko that he goes every where Kiko goes. Without the help of the keepers at the park and the DSWT facility, these animals would never have survived in the wild.

Now they have excellent care and close friends to spend the rest of their lives with. Check out the video below and be sure to share this story with your family and friends.
