An elderly couple enter a fast food restaurant and order one hamburger, one order of fries, and one drink. They go sit down and the husband unwraps the burger and cuts it in half. He lays half of the burger in front of his wife and then carefully counts the fries to divide them equally.

As he begins to eat a few bites of hamburger, the people around them begin to notice that the wife isn’t eating her half. They begin to feel sorry for the poor old couple thinking they could only afford to buy one meal for the two of them.

Finally, a young man approaches the old couple and politely offers to buy another meal for them. The old man replies that they are fine and that they are just used to sharing everything.

The people notice that the little old lady still hasn’t taken a single bite of her meal. She had been sitting their watching her husband eat and occasionally taking a sip of the drink when it was her turn.

Again, the young man comes over to the table and asks them to let him buy another meal for them. This time, it is the old woman who declines the offer by saying they are used to sharing everything.

Finally, the old man is finished with his part of the meal and the woman has still not taken a single bite of food. The young man approaches the table one more time and asks, “May I ask what is it you are waiting for?” To which the woman replies, “The teeth.”
