Based on the way that lions Malkia and Adelle react when they see Michaela Zimanova, you would think that she had given birth to them herself!

Instead, she has been their human “godmother” who helped to raise the two cubs, who she calls her “darlings.”

Malkia and Adelle were rescued by a Big Cat Rescue in Slovakia after they were rejected by their mother. Their parents had been used in circuses across Eastern Europe, but Malkia and Adelle would lead a much better life thanks to this organization.

Michaela was one of the caretakers that made sure that Malkia and Adelle got all of the love that they needed. These days, she visits Malkia Park in Slovakia around three times a month just to see her “godchildren.” They love her so much in return that Michaela is one of just three people who is allowed to get this close to them.

In the video below this story, you’ll see the lions get reunited with Michaela after spending a few weeks apart. Based on the way that the animals react, you would think that it had been years!

Watch as the lions run at Michaela and cuddle with her to show her how much they love her! Both Malkia and Adelle jump up and grab her from the other side of the fence with both paws. She ends up getting some big hugs from these majestic creatures.
