Dealing with a crying baby in a public place can be a frustrating experience, and many end up judging parents who have trouble keeping their children quiet. This is unfortunate because parents are already trying everything in their power to get their kids to be quiet, but sometimes, the children just won’t listen.

Exhausted parents are always grateful when strangers show them some kindness and understanding, and thankfully, that’s exactly what mom Lucy Hatami got when she encountered a rude young man while out to breakfast recently. Lucy was tired of being stuck inside her house, so she decided to go out to breakfast with her 8-month-old son.

As soon as she sat down, Lucy’s son started to get fussy, and she did everything she could to calm him down. As she desperately tried to get her baby to be quiet, Lucy heard a young man mutter some unkind words meant directly for her.

“I wish she’d shut that thing up!” he said loudly enough for her to hear. Lucy was flabbergasted by this, and she had no idea how to respond, but it was then that an unlikely hero came to her aid.

“Before I could even respond his dad comes up behind him clips him round the ear,” Lucy recalled.

“What and you think you were perfect?” he chastised his son. “You were a right little sod. Now stop being a brat, go up there and apologize to her and offer to get her breakfast as she clearly has her hands full!”

Clearly, this father remembered how frustrating being the parent to an infant can be!

“So I got my buffet breakfast with waiter service along with a lovely coffee,” Lucy wrote in a social media post. “Thank you to that dad who even after 20 odd years still remembers the difficulty of being parents to babies!”
