School picture day is the day that parents look forward to. The photos will last for years and capture year by year memories of your child as they grow.
Consequently we want them to look their very best. We pick out the perfect outfit and make sure their hair is fixed just so. But even then, sometimes things can go all wrong.
Carter Hutsell is one of those kids. The Missouri 7th grader picked out an outfit with his mom so he’d be looking his best for picture day. They decided on a green shirt with a collar because it would look good against a neutral background.

But when Carter got home from school on picture day, the very first thing he told his mom was that he thought the green shirt was a bad idea because it would blend in with the green screen.
His mom couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She thought she must have overlooked the fine print, but hoped that the photos would turn out okay anyway. Unfortunately, the photos were anything but okay.

When she opened the email saying the photos were ready she clicked on the link and saw the results of the green shirt photos. Carter was right. His green shirt blended right in with the back drop. Still, she couldn’t keep from laughing.
Each picture showed her son with a variety of backgrounds, but only his head and arms seemed to float about in each photo. She immediately shared the photos to Facebook which got the attention of plenty of people.

Even Carter himself burst out laughing when he saw them. His mom decided to check the school photo documents to see if she had looked over the fine print, but there was no warning about green shirts.
She was quick to share her motherly wisdom by saying, “As moms, we do the best we can. We love our kids. We support. We encourage. We try to prepare. But in the end, there’s a chance our kids will still have a floating head in a flag, autumn scene, or brick wall. And that, my friends, is a hilarious thing to be okay with.”
