Princess Eugenie is preparing to marry Jack Brooksbank on October 12 in what will be the second royal wedding of the year, after the May nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Eugenie just made an announcement about her wedding, which is to take place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, that has left many feeling surprised.

Eugenie has said that she will be enforcing a strict “no plastic” rule across the entire event. She explained that she was inspired to do this by the fact that her home, Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace, is already completely plastic-free.

“My whole house is anti-plastic now — and Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well. We’ve got to look after this planet,” Eugenie said.

This issue has always been one that Eugenie has promoted. Earlier this year, she took to Instagram to discuss the importance of limiting the amount of single-use plastic that people use in their everyday lives. In this post, she revealed that she had become an ambassador for Project O, an organization that aims “to inspire people to make sustainable choices to stop the ocean from drowning in plastic.”

Though her wedding is less than two months away, Eugenie said that she is remaining calm so far.

“It’s very nerve-racking because you want it to be perfect but then you realise that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters,” she said.

Eugenie has revealed little about her wedding dress, other than the fact that she is using a local designer to make it.

“I’m not telling anyone who is making it, but I can say it is a British-based designer. (The dress) is the one thing that I was really decisive about,” she said. “As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew the designer and the look, straight away. I never thought I’d be the one who knew exactly what I like, but I’ve been pretty on top of it.”

This second royal wedding of the year is bringing much excitement to supporters of the royal family!
