Bus drivers and passengers never really think about things going wrong as they drive down the road to their destination. We simply hop on the bus and put our trust in the driver.

Whether we hop on a bus, tax, airplane, or any mode of public transportation, we expect the drivers to get us there safely. Drivers also expect that their passengers have common courtesy.

But when you’re a school bus driver that doesn’t always happen. Children can be unpredictable and you never know what exactly what will happen.

Thanks to one very observant bus driver, the life of one of her five-year-old passengers was saved. He was simply trying to have fun, but it ended in heroic actions on her behalf.

Luckily for the little boy, the driver kept glancing back towards her passengers, when she suddenly heard a noise that she’ll never forget. One of the children told her that her friend was choking and she jumped into action.

She had just a split second to act and with adrenaline rushing through her veins, she jumped up to save the little boy. He was choking on a random object and her heroics that day saved his life.

After performing the Heimlich maneuver, a penny dislodged from the tykes airway. The heroic bus drive then stayed next to him to ensure that he was okay.
