A year ago, a little dog named Peanut was taken to the Delta Animal Shelter in Escanaba. Her stomach was filled with carpet and she had several broken legs and ribs.

Thankfully, Peanut rehabilitated and adopted into a loving home where she lived the way that a dog deserves to. But about one year after her adoption, Peanut became the rescuer instead of the rescued.

Peanut’s new family shared her incredible feat with a letter to the shelter. It explained that Peanut has been an amazing addition to their family, but her past life must be like a sixth sense that she carries with her.

One day Peanut started going crazy at their house running up and down the stairs, barking and yelping. She wanted outside, and her family couldn’t imagine what was so important outside.

When Peanut got outside she immediately took off towards the field behind the family’s house. Her dad followed, and to his surprise he found a three-year-old girl curled up in a ball freezing. He scooped her up and brought her inside and immediately called 911.

Thanks to Peanut’s actions, the little girl is safe and sound, as is her sister who was living at home, but in awful conditions. Both girls have been taken into protective custody.

What an amazing little dog! Be sure to share her story with your family and friends.
