Last December, wildfires blazed across Southern California. The fires moved quickly and both people and animals had to escape their homes as fast they could.
Unfortunately, a horse in Sylmar, California, wasn’t able to escape the fire that was blazing quickly towards his home. The 23-year-old horse, Kenny, got trapped between his stable walls.
He lay there trapped on his back as the fire got closer and closer, but luckily someone noticed him before it was too late. A journalist named Gina Silva saw him. She and her team wanted to help Kenny, but they couldn’t do it on their own.

As the firefighters around them were too busy to help, Silva turned to social media for assistance. The tweet worked and a local vet contacted Silva to offer his aid.
The vet, along with several other volunteer rescuers, gathered outside Kenny’s stable. They gave him a tranquilizer to relax him and then broke down the wall to free him.

The vet then took Kenny to his clinic where he was treated for minor injuries. Kenny recovered quickly thanks to the swift rescue and he’s now doing well.
Kenny’s owner couldn’t be more grateful that people came together to rescue her horse. She wasn’t able to take him when she fled her home, but she was thrilled to know that he was okay.
Thank goodness this story has a happy ending for Kenny. Please be sure to share this story with family and friends.
