Tim Tebow is known for not only being an amazing athlete, but also for being a proud Christian who does whatever he can to help others.
Fifteen years ago, met a little boy named Sherwin, who was born with his feet facing backwards. The little boy was born in a village located deep in a Philippine jungle, and villagers there were convinced the boy was cursed, so they shunned him. As soon as Tebow met Sherwin, however, he knew the child was blessed by God.

Tebow knew immediately that it was up to him to help people like Sherwin.
“He was born that way, and I knew after meeting him what I want to do with my life is fight for people who can’t fight for themselves,” said Tebow.
Tebow felt a strong connection to Sherwin, as he was born in the Philippines himself.
“I grew up here in the early stages of my life. I love the Filipino people – they’re some of the friendliest, warmest, nicest people in the world,” Tebow said. “And, to be able to come back here and care for them and love them, well it’s truly a dream come true.”
Though Tebow went on to have an illustrious career in the NFL and MLB worlds, he never forgot about Sherwin. In 2014, he launched the Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City, Philippines, which provides life-saving surgeries for people who do not have access to medical care.
Tebow recently had the opportunity to help Aldrin, a boy who was born with a congenital defect much like Sherwin’s. Dr. Tim Mead, a CURE on-staff surgeon, explained that the boy’s legs bent the wrong way “like a flamingo.”

Thanks to Tebow’s hospital, Aldrin was able to get the surgeries that he needed to fix his issue and save his life. Tebow explained that in the process of being healed, Aldrin also found his Christian faith!
Though Aldrin can still only stand for about ten minutes at a time before his legs start hurting, he says that he now has a sense of confidence that he never had before. In fact, Aldrin believes that anything is possible!
“If I could be a superhero, I’d like to be Superman because he can fly!” the boy said.
Aldrin also made sure to thank Sherwin, who was Tebow’s inspiration to start the hospital in the first place.
“Thank you, Sherwin. One life truly can change another,” Aldrin said.
