It’s very rare for someone to have the opportunity to meet their great-grandchildren. Most people have already passed away by the time their great-grandchildren are born, so getting the chance to meet them can be a powerful experience.
When Susan and Jason Zwolak welcomed their son Easton into the world, they couldn’t wait for him to meet his 105 year-old great-grandfather, Pop. Susan, who is Pop’s granddaughter, said that he was very excited for Easton’s birth.
“The last two months of my pregnancy, he kept asking me when I’m going to the hospital. He showed a real interest,” Susan said.
They took Easton to meet the centenarian just five days after he was born, and Pop was overwhelmed with happiness when he met the baby boy.
“We brought him home on a Saturday, and on Sunday we took him over,” said Susan. “We never anticipated what we saw … the hugs, the look in his eye.”
Pop surprised Susan and Jason at first by saying that he could not hold Easton. When they asked him why, he replied, “I might drop him.” It was only when they assured him that he could hold the baby that he held out his arms for the infant.
What happened when Pop held Easton for the first time has melted the hearts of people all over the world! Video of their meeting has since gone viral, and it’s easy to see why!
Since this first meeting, Pop and Easton have developed a close friendship!
“We use (Easton) to really push Pop,” Jason said. “On days when he’s down … we say, ‘You want to see Easton walk, see him talk.’”
