They say sometimes it isn’t safe to drink the water, that is, unless you want to get pregnant. For one group of nurse practitioners at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, there really must be something in the water.

All six nurse practitioners are expecting new babies this year. Katie Carlton, Emily Johnson, Nikki Huth, Sabrina Hudson, Nina Day, and Bethany Stringer have become known as the “Fabulous Six Pack” among their patients.

While some of them were planning to get pregnant, it was a shock to them and everyone around them when it happened all around the same time.

Having all six of them going through it at the same time is exceptionally helpful for the two first-time moms of the group.

“I have a lot of anxiety, like I’m going to worry about everything,” said Emily Johnson. “To keep from making my husband go crazy, I just talk about my issues here and they make me feel a lot better.”

Plans have already been put in place by the hospital to make sure that patient care isn’t compromised and everything continues to run smoothly while the women are out on maternity leave.
