One evening a man heard a soft thumping noise coming from inside a nearby dumpster. The good Samaritan went to investigate to see what it could possibly be. What he found inside is absolutely heartbreaking. So heartbreaking, in fact, that some of the images below are really hard to look at.

Stuffed inside a sealed box inside the dumpster was a dog that was in horrific condition. While the photos are hard to look at, we assure you that there is a happy ending to this story, so you definitely want to keep reading.

The man knew the dog needed immediate medical attention so he contacted the Dallas Dog RRR for help. Volunteers rushed to the scene and because Sally, the name they gave the dumpster dog, was in such poor condition, they rushed her to the ER.

At the ER, Sally was diagnosed with chronic mange, high fever, and dehydration. She was weak and frail and had open wounds that were heavily bleeding. Even her paws were swollen and sore. Still, Sally kept a positive attitude.

Because of her fighting spirit, the staff fell in love with Sally. Despite her awful condition, she refused to give up and kept wagging her tail. The rescue contacted a woman named Patti who agreed to foster Sally knowing that she would have a long road to recovery filled with plenty of vet visits.

When Patti went to pick up Sally, the pooch was overjoyed at having someone to love and look after her. She showered Patti with kisses and cuddles and showed her just how thankful she really was.

Sally continued to make progress at her foster home. Her treatments were working and Patti’s love was definitely paying off. After a few months with Patti, Sally has fully recovered. She is healthy, mange free, and has turned into a beautiful, loving dog.
