Young people tend to think that senior citizens are over the hill and that they have lost their sense of adventure. Nothing could be further from the truth! Four senior citizens have proven that age is just a number by taking on another adventure – zip lining!
Marley Divver, 73, is the senior who came up with the idea to go zip lining, and she convinced three others from Touchmark Senior Living in Appleton, Wisconsin to go with her.

“When we moved here three months ago, Annie asked if there was anything fun I’d like to do, and I said zip lining,” Divver explained.
“I think some of them are going to get to fulfill a bucket list item, and some of them are afraid of heights and I think they’ll get to see that they can overcome that so that’ll be really great,” said Annie Vlach, the life enrichment director at Touchmark.
Bill Geenen, who is about to turn 81, was happy to cross zip lining off of his bucket list.
“This is the first opportunity I’ve had. I’ve really always wanted to do this but never had a chance before,” said Geenen.
The zip line that the senior citizens went on is 1,000 feet long and 100 feet in the air. Zip liners can reach speeds anywhere from 20 to 30 miles an hour, but when Geneen asked if he was intimidated by this, he said “no way.”
“It was fun. I wish I would’ve been going frontwards instead of backwards, but it was as I expected,” said Geenen.
Divver already has many other adventures planned for herself! She is already planning on going on a hot air balloon for her 74th birthday, and deep sea fishing and riding a roller-coaster again are also items on her bucket list.
“It’s part of living life. It’s part of being retired. I worked hard, and now I’m retired and I can have some fun,” Divver said.
“You have to enjoy life while you can, while you’re healthy,” Geenen added.
