One English teenager is determined to make a difference in the world, or at least to one person at a time. She has written more than 40 inspirational notes and attached them to the railings of Wearmouth Bridge hoping to make a difference in someone’s life.

Paige Hunter, 18, leaves messages on the bridge to help those in despair. The bridge is a common location where people go to take their own lives. She hopes to offer hope and comfort to people contemplating suicide.

The signs say things like “Even though things are difficult, your life matters” and “You’re a shining light in a dark world, so just hold on.”

When the teen returned to the bridge this week, the Northumbria Police Chief Superintendent Sarah Pitt presented her with a framed commendation certificate recognizing the compassionate teen for her selfless acts.

The captain said they felt like it was important to applaud Paige for the work she has been doing and the help she has given those who are going through a mental crisis. “Paige has shown an incredible understanding of vulnerable people in need of support, and this is an innovative way to reach out to those in a dark place,” said Pitt.

Paige works as a sales assistant at a variety store and says it was just something she wanted to do. “I just want to help people and I’ve been told it’s already helped save six lives,” she said.

What an amazing and heartwarming story! Be sure to share this inspirational story with your family and friends too. I think this young lady has a bright future ahead of her.
