Of course, Queen Elizabeth II had to give her official consent for Prince Harry to take Meghan Markle as his bride, but there was someone else that the Prince wanted to get the approval from as well and it might surprise you who it was.

Prince Harry and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton are very close. No surprise then, when the relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan started getting serious, he wanted to be sure that Kate approved of the relationship and marriage.

The Duchess of Cambridge helped fill a gap in Harry’s life that was left by his mother’s death. Prince Harry has always called Kate the big sister he never had.

Although Kate and Meghan are very different, the first meeting between the two went very well. Prince Harry introduced Kate to Meghan in November 2016, about four months after they started dating.

When Harry and Meghan finally announced their engagement in November 2017, Kate expressed her excitement for the news, “William and I are absolutely thrilled,” she said. “It’s such exciting news. It’s a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment.”
