Part of everyone’s morning routine should be as amazing as one father and daughter who prove that you don’t have to do anything strenuous or be anywhere special to have a great start to your day.
Ron Alston is a YMCA program director and personal trainer. He’s always been an advocate for encouraging confidence. As a kid, he and his father had morning affirmations together, so when he found out he was having a child of his own, he started inspiring the baby way before she was ever born.
The affirmations started by playing the 1996 Bulls anthem, which all Bull fans known is a great way to boost positivity. Then as she grew up he began talking to her. Finally, when she was old enough to talk and stand in front of a mirror, the real training began.

Ron would stand his daughter, Aliya, in front of the mirror and have her repeat a few choice phrases that he hoped would boost her confidence and give her strength. He says the world tries to tear children down, and he wanted her to know that she was unique and great in her own special way.
The duo have done the morning affirmations for years, even as Aliya has grown bigger. Of course, the video of the toddler Aliya standing on the sink looking into the mirror went viral and it’s easy to see why.

The video, that you can watch below, has gone viral and parents have thanked Alston for empowering his daughter and they have admitted to starting similar traditions in their own homes. Amazing!
Check out the adorable video below and be sure to share it with your family and friends. We could all use a little inspiration from these two.
