Aaron Arias, 19 and Jamal Harris, 17, were driving around one day when they noticed a pretty young woman sitting in the back seat of the vehicle next to them.
Since they were both hormonal teenagers who were immediately attracted to her, Aaron and Jamal tried to make eye contact with the girl. That’s when she did something that told the boys that she was in a very dangerous situation.
As soon as the girl saw the boys, she began frantically mouthing the words “help me.” Realizing they had to do something, Aaron and Jamal called the police.
“Yes, I’m on the highway. I’m witnessing a robbery. Not a robbery, a kidnapping,” Aaron told the dispatcher. “It’s me and another guy. So we’re checking out the girl in the backseat because we’re like, ‘OK, she’s kind of attractive’, and then all of a sudden the guy is turned back, looking at us.”
Thanks to Aaron and Jamal’s efforts, police were able to track down the car and rescue the girl. It turns out that the girl was actually a 25 year-old woman who had been kidnapped by 37-year-old Charles Atkins Lewis, who forced her into his car. Lewis has since been charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
Aaron and Jamal met the woman after she was rescued so that she could thank them for saving her.
“I would describe it as the best hug I have ever gotten,” Aaron said.
