Sometimes technology gets the best of us. Sometimes it can be frustrating to not be able to keep up with all the new technological advances. However, this grandfather’s technological fail turned out to be adorable and humorous which has made it a viral sensation.

Jayce Flauding was visiting Sandia Peak Tramway in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his grandfather, John Hart, when a tourist came up to them and asked if they could record his marriage proposal. Flauding gave the tourist’s iPhone to Hart so that he could record it, but it was only later that they realized the grandfather had inadvertently been recording his own reaction instead!

“He thought he was filming the proposal the whole time but all we saw on playback was a genuine, heartfelt reaction to the proposal itself — he had the phone backwards!” Flauding wrote on YouTube when he posted the hilarious fail.

Hart later explained that he struck up a conversation with the soon-to-be-groom before the proposal.

“He introduced me to his girlfriend and at that point I said, ‘Wow hey this would be a great chance for you to propose to your girlfriend and put a big smile on her face,’ and unbeknownst to me, that was the plan,” Hart said.

Hart said that he was flattered when the tourist asked him to record the proposal.

“I thought I could handle this. Well unbeknownst to me, I’m taping myself,” Hart said.
