You likely remember the LMFAO song “Sexy and I Know It” as the song of 2012, as you could not turn on the radio without hearing it come on. A father of five from Taylorsville, Utah heard the song so many times that he decided to make his own parody of it, and it ended up going viral more than he ever could have imagined.
Chad Morton and his wife Angela were brainstorming funny gifts for their annual Christmas party when they came up with the idea for the song. The couple is known among their family and friends for their creative Christmas ideas, and they really outdid themselves with this one!

The year before this, Chad had recorded eight Christmas songs using funny voices and gave his family members each a copy of his debut CD, and he was struggling to find a way to top this.
The Mortons are parents to five children, three of whom are triplets! At the time they made this video, the Mortons’ oldest two boys were 7 and 5, and the triplets were 22 months-old. Chad and Angela wanted to include their children in their Christmas gift, but they did not know how to do it.
“One night, my wife and I were sitting on the couch and Angela said, ‘Why don’t we do a music video?’” Chad said. “We sat there brainstorming for a Christmas song, and we couldn’t think of anything funny, so then we started thinking of other songs, and we thought of ‘Sexy and I Know It.’”

The Mortons ended up making lyrics to the song “I’m a Daddy and I Know It,” and they took the entire month of December to make the video below. The video shows Chad going about his daily dad routine as he sings hilarious lyrics and is helped along the way by his children.

“As soon as we brought out the camera, they were super excited and got real goofy,” Chad said of his kids. “We’ve got tons of footage we didn’t use for the video of them being goofy, but we were trying to figure out what scenes would best go with the lyrics.”
The video was such a hit within the family that Chad decided to post it on YouTube, and it didn’t take long for it to go viral.
“Everyone was asking, ‘Where’s our copy?’ so we said we’d go put it on YouTube and then everybody can go and watch it,” Chad explained. “We ended up putting it up on the 24th and we told a few friends it was up there, and it just kind of spread from there.”

The Mortons were stunned by how successful the video was!
“Our intention was never to go big or to become famous from it, but it’s always fun to hop on and see how many views it’s got,” he said.
