Olivia de Havilland celebrated her 102nd birthday last Sunday, and many fans took to social media to pay tribute to the Hollywood legend!
de Havilland is the last surviving cast member of the 1939 classic “Gone With The Wind,” which she starred in as Melanie Hamilton Wilkes opposite Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh. de Havilland was nominated for an Oscar for her work in the film, and she went on to win two Oscars during her lengthy acting career. The actress has been living in Paris, France since 1956.

“So how do I feel about older age?” she said when asked about getting older before her 99th birthday. “Crazy about it! Wouldn’t trade it for anything!”
Born in Tokyo to British parents in 1916, de Havilland was the older sister to Academy Award winning actress Joan Fontaine, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 96. de Havilland reemerged last year to file a lawsuit against FX Networks for her portrayal in the miniseries “Feud,” which depicted the strained relationship between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
de Havilland was portrayed on “Feud” by actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, but in her lawsuit, the Hollywood legend claimed that her depiction damaged her “professional reputation for integrity, honesty, generosity, self-sacrifice and dignity.” The lawsuit was thrown out by a judge who concluded that de Havilland does not have “the legal right to control, dictate, approve, disapprove, or veto the creator’s portrayal of actual people.”
