A boys’ soccer team that had been missing since June 23 was just found by rescue divers in Thailand after more than a week in danger.

This came after an international rescue effort was launched to find them involving 1,000 people from Thai emergency services. These rescue workers teamed up with a US military contingent and British cave experts, as well as Thai navy SEAL divers. All of their efforts proved to be a huge success when they found the 12 boys, ages 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old soccer coach.

“We found all 13 safe,” said Chiang Rai provincial Governor Narongsak Ostanakorn. “We will take care of them until they can move.”

The team went missing after they entered Tham Luang Nang Non cave and became trapped there by flooding. SEAL divers and rescue workers found them on Monday after they managed to get through a narrow passageway that they found after passing through a key chamber.

People all over the world had spent more than a week praying for the boys.

Divers had not been able to make much progress until the Sunday before the boys were found due to the rising muddy waters that made it difficult for them to proceed, as they caused a huge safety risk for rescuers.

“In theory, human beings can last 30 days (without food),” said Narongsak before the team was found. “We hope and believe that this is the case. We still have hope.”

We’re so thankful that these boys were found safely! This just goes to show that miracles really do happen, and that prayer really works!
