Damian Aspinall had raised two gorillas named Ima and Djalta from tiny babies to 12-year-old fully grown apes. When they were old enough, he released them into the jungle. Four years later he went back to see them in their natural habitat, but he had someone special he wanted them to meet.

Damian, a multi-millionaire conservationist, wanted to introduce his new wife, Victoria, to the two friends he had raised. He knew he had to be careful when introducing her, but he had no idea that one of them would steal his wife from him.

The couple traveled through crocodile infested waters and finally reached the home of the apes. The Western Lowland gorillas love their home so much that when the couple first arrived, they weren’t sure about having humans coming into their new territory.

However, when Ima and Djalta realized who was there, the great apes welcomed Damian into their territory with open arms. To Damian’s surprise, they even got friendly with his wife on their very first meeting.

Victoria cautiously approached the apes and immediately fell in love with the 300-pound gentle giants. It wasn’t long before Ima stole Victoria’s hat and Victoria laid down in Ima’s lap allowing him to play with her hair.

The encounter involved lots of attention and hugs, and it seemed as if Ima didn’t want Victoria to ever leave. Their bond continued to grow stronger and stronger over the encounter. We’d say its safe to say that Ima and Djalta approved of Damian’s new wife.
