As soon as Kate Middleton joined the British royal family, many noticed that she reminded them of the legendary Princess Diana. Kate’s royal journey has been very similar to Diana’s, as both women married men who were the heir to the British throne.

Now, an announcement has been made revealing that Kate is about to share something very special with Diana.

Kate currently holds the title of “Duchess of Cambridge,” but once Queen Elizabeth is no longer the monarch, Kate and Prince William will become the Prince and Princess of Wales! This means that Kate will have the same title as her mother-in-law had!

Diana was minted Her Royal Highness Princess Diana of Wales after she married Prince Charles in 1981.

In her own words: “I went to Highgrove a couple of weeks ago to put pressure on basically to see it finished by the end of October. It honestly won’t look smart. Just a cosy nest for ‘Mr & Mrs Wales’ to roost, with bright colours, of course! It’s heavenly up here, just having the opportunity to do what you like and walk for miles. I’ve vanished down many a hole, the husband having not realised, typical! We are touring Wales for 3 days at the end of next month, which will be quite something. Though Diana was stripped of her title after she separated from Charles, she was still referred to as “The People’s Princess” and even today, she is referred to as “Princess Diana.” When Camilla Parker Bowles married Charles, she refrained from sharing the title of “Princess of Wales” out of respect and instead accepted the title of “Duchess of Cornwall.”

Kate must be so happy to share this title with Diana!
