The world went into mourning earlier this month when Koko the gorilla, who mastered American sign language and could communicate with humans, passed away at the age of 46. Now, the final message she had for humanity is going viral.

Koko made friends all over the world during her lifetime, including actor Robin Williams. In fact, Koko felt lots of grief when he passed away in 2014.

Koko worked with animal psychologist Francine “Penny” Patterson to learn how to communicate, and the better she got at this, the more people wondered what a gorilla would want to say to mankind.

A few years before her death, Koko sent an urgent message to humanity that we need now more than ever.

During the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, Koko sent an important lesson to world leaders.

“I am gorilla. I am flowers, animals. I am nature,” she began as she signed in front of a dark background. “Man Koko love. Earth Koko love. But man stupid, stupid! Koko sorry. Koko cry. Time hurry.”

“Fix Earth. Help Earth. Hurry! Protect Earth. Nature see you. Thank you,” she concluded after she seemed to be deep in thought.

Given all the chaos in the world today, we definitely need to listen to this message! It is wisdom like this that made Koko beloved by so many people, and her presence on this Earth is dearly missed!
